Teaching English is an exciting, challenging, and rewarding activity that brings me great satisfaction because students leave the classroom with something they didn’t have before. Being able to see what my students can achieve later on in their future studies and lives is great. To me, teaching English is an enriching two-way process in which both parts, students and teacher are benefitted from everybody’s knowledge and experience. I learn from my students as much as I teach them (if not more).
I have a great deal of experience working with young learners; I like their drive, energy, sense of humor and the passion they put into everything they do. That keeps me motivated to keep learning and updating my teaching and tech skills.
I’m a teacher who enjoys exchanging information about our culture, customs and traditions. I believe that these elements represent the solid foundation on which we can start building and strengthening our foreign language skills. That’s why I think it’s important to understand who we are as a people, society and nation.
In regards with methodology, I’m familiar with different theoretical orientations, such as: structural, cognitive, psychological, functional; etc. Likewise, I understand the different approaches in teaching, like the constructivist, collaborative, integrative, reflective and inquiry-based learning, among others. I believe it’s important to identify my students’ individual learning style, and once I’ve done that, take the best course of action.
