My English knowledge comes from a personal experience as an exchange student from the years 1985 and 1986, when I graduated from High School and spent a year in Arkansas, US as an exchange student. As soon as I returned to Cusco, I became an English Teacher at the best local English Institute, where I worked during my University studies. My skills as an English teacher come from this experience.
Since 2011 my recent experience is related to teach northamerican university students in one of the best peruvian universities in Cusco. I was incharge of Inca History, Inca Architecture and Cultural Heritage classes. As far as I know, all my students felt that their initial motivation and expectations were matched. The key is to have a detailed beginning planning, made with the students themselves, for deciding the classes coming details, as their presentations, the themes, the final scoring and mainly, following strictly this planning.
Another advantage for teaching my classes is that each lesson is closely related with different spaces in Cusco region. As an example, what if the lesson, in an specific class, is about the Tawantinsuyu, or Inca State Political Organization; so that day classes will be held at the Cuzquenian main square, still the geographical center of the Incas territory organization, so we can still witness the four regions distributed to the north, east, south and west, the four main roads or Qhapaq Ñan, and their location, the upper and the lower part of the ancient Inca city, the religious center, and so on.
Classes with this professor will be given since specific local scenarios related to the corresponding topics planned in class, not only from a desk. That way my students will enjoy most lessons using the best graphic aids: actual locations in Cusco.
